Abstract:

In this study, which aims to determine the views and opinions of the local people regarding the development of rural tourism in Urla district, rural tourism is evaluated in the light of data obtained from socio-economic and socio-cultural dimensions. Semi-structured interview method was used in the whole research. İn the interviews with local people, it was determined that the population who are in the tourism sector one by one or who are aware of the tourism activities in the district have positive views on rural tourism but they are abstained about the development of the tourism phenomenon in their private areas. Local people believe that with the development of rural tourism, the population flow from villages to cities will decrease significantly. In various parts of the study, the information and opinions obtained from the local people are summarized. As a result of the study, both public and private enterprises and local people will be a part of tourism with the plans and projects aiming to develop rural tourism in the district and considerable employment will be ensured thanks to new business areas.
