Hayatımızda değişiklikler meydana getiren Covid19, beraberinde farklı sağlık sorunlarının artmasına da sebebiyet vermiştir. Koronavirüsün akciğerlerde inflamasyona yol açmasıyla solunum cihazlarına olan ihtiyaç artmıştır. Bu dönemde oksijen tüpü ve gereçleri, ventilatör cihazları, taşınabilir röntgen cihazları, test kitleri, bilgisayarlı tomografi (BT), tomografi cihazları, EKG ve infüzyon pompası gibi tıbbi teknolojilere gereksinim artmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında tıbbi teknoloji üreten şirketlerin finansal göstergeleri incelenmektedir. Bu çalışmada, TOPSIS ve PROMETHEE yöntemleri kullanılarak ABD’deki tıbbi cihaz şirketlerinin finansal performansları irdelendikten sonra karşılaştırılmıştır. Araştırmada New York Menkul Kıymetler (NYSE) Borsasına kote edilmiş tıbbi cihaz üreten şirketleri 2016-2021 yılları arasında incelenmiştir. Araştırma iki zaman diliminden oluşmaktadır. Birinci zaman diliminde Covid19 öncesi (2016 ve Kasım 2019 arası)ve ikinci zaman diliminde Covid19 sonrası (Aralık 2019 ve 2021 yılı) olmak üzere incelenmiştir. Her iki dönem için tıbbi cihaz şirketlerinin finansal performansları belirlenen kriterlere göre hesaplanmıştır ve ardından TOPSIS ve PROMETHEE yöntemleri kullanılarak Covid19 pandemisinin tıbbi cihaz şirketleri üzerindeki etkisi karşılaştırma sonucunda değerlendirilmiştir.
Covid19 has changed our lives, has also caused an increase in different health problems. Coronavirus causes inflammation in the lungs that’s why the need for ventilators has increased. In this period, the need for medical technologies such as oxygen cylinders and equipment, ventilator devices, portable x-ray devices, test kits, computer tomography (CT), tomography devices, EKG and infusion pumps has increased. Within the scope of the research, financial indicators of companies producing medical technology are examined. In this study, the financial performances of medical device companies in the USA are compared using TOPSIS and PROMETHEE methods. In the study, companies producing medical devices listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) are examined between 2016-2021. The research consists of two time periods. In the first time period, pre-Covid-19 (between 2016 and November 2019) and in the second time period, post-Covid-19 (December 2019 and 2021) are analyzed. The financial performances of medical device companies for both periods are calculated according to the determined criteria. Moreover, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on medical device companies is evaluated by using TOPSIS and PROMETHEE methods. Keywords: Financial Performance, Solvency, Promethee, Topsis
