Abstract:

The Danish folk scientist Axel Olrik published his writing in 1909 entitled "The Epic Rules of People's Stories" which brought a different perspective to the people's stories. Olrik has created fifteen epic rules by expressing the similarity of public stories in this article. According to Axel Olrik, who expresses the similarity of people's stories to each other, wherever people's stories arise, we get the feeling that we have met before with these stories. Myths, turquoises, legends, and narratives are among the literary types where the fifteen epic rules that Olrik established can be applied. The first example of the transition from Destana to the people's story is Dede Korkut stories, and the first example of the transition from Destana to the people's story is Dede Korkut stories. The grandfather's horror stories tell the sons about their enemies and their struggles between themselves. In these matches, the sons have important functions. In the story, although Dirse Han appears to be a major hero, the real hero is Dirse Han's son Boğaç Han. In this study, the first of Dede Korkut's stories, "Dirse Han Son Boğaç Han" was discussed in the framework of the fifteen epic rules that Olrik determined. These rules have been applied to the public story we have studied and the story’s conformity to the rules has been established.
