Abstract:

In societies where the ageing population is rapidly increasing, the ageing care services have gained importance. It is known that the attitudes of professional members working in this field towards the elderly directly affect the quality of care services. The professional members, despite their training, are influenced by the socio-cultural characteristics of the society they are in, developing judgments and attitudes. Therefore, it is important to determine their attitudes towards the elderly. The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of professional members working in the associated organizations of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy to the elderly. The data was collected through the survey with 268 participants face to face. In the collection of data, the Demographic Information Form and the Adult Attitude Scale developed by Kogan were applied. The work is illustrative and cutting-edge quality. The results were evaluated by the SPSS 16 statistical program. T-test and Variance Analysis (Anova) were used to determine the relationship between the variables and whether there is a meaningful difference. The attitude of professional members towards the elderly is determined to be working in an organization that voluntarily serves the elderly or to be working in such a organization in the future is positively affected by their working conditions in the field of the elderly. According to the professions, the position towards the elderly has been found to be ranked positively to negatively in the form of psychologists, social services experts, teachers, children's developers and health care workers.
