Abstract:

This study aims to study the relationship between parent attitudes and self-concepts of children aged 3 to 4 years of age in pre-school institutions. The research was conducted with 60 children and parents who studied in two pre-school institutions located in Istanbul. In the study, sociodemographic information was evaluated by the Personal Information Form, the concept of self-sufficiency of children by the Purdue Concept of self-sufficiency for children and the Parental Attitudes by the Family Life and Childhood Attitude Scale (PARI). Research has found that the concept of selfie in boys is higher than in girls. There has been a positive relationship between the Democratic and Equality sub-scale points and the concept of self. In contrast, a negative relationship has been found between the rejection of the role of home female, excessive maternity, intolerance, strict discipline and the concept of selfishness. It is believed that the concept of self is a critical stage in the development of the individual known to be in early childhood and that gender differences and that parents’ attitudes affect the concept of self.
