Abstract:

Ethically, global climate change is defined by many scientists as the biggest problem of distributor justice (revzi-i justice) that the world faces. States interpret the concept of "justice" in climate negotiations according to their political positions or national interests. As the burden distribution achieved by the Kyoto Protocol does not satisfy almost any country in terms of justice, the fair distribution of the benefits and costs of climate change is one of the most important issues of debate in the post-Kyoto climate negotiations. This study aims to analyze global climate change as a problem of distribution justice. This analysis is based on the three dimensions of distributor justice: the distributed (developed countries, developing countries, present generations, future generations, individuals, companies, etc.), the distributed (atmosphere, emission rights, future generations' emanation to present generations, emission reduction or adaptation costs, etc.) and the distribution process (fair decision-making processes in the global climate change regime, etc.). The study concluded that it was extremely difficult to reach an agreement based on the principles of distributive justice in the post-Kyoto climate negotiations. The application of different principles of justice gives different consequences to the parties.
