Abstract:

In our self-study, the anti-Islamic politics in the Soviet Kazakhstan between 1928 and 1940 has been historized. Although secular reforms began to take place after the establishment of the Soviet Union, the Muslims in the first decade did not experience any trouble. In this, it was effective that the Soviets followed a soft policy that wanted to gain their support from the Muslims in the Turkistan region. Although the Soviet Constitution gives the individual freedom of faith, the Communist Party has seen the ‘religion’ as something that must be destroyed. In the middle of the 1920s, a anti-religious organization in the country was established the Military Unbelievers Union and through this organization began to conduct anti-religious propaganda.The organization supported by the Communist Party, several anti-religious magazines and newspapers have not been published. In the mid-1930s, practical interventions against religion have increased.Many of the cities have been illegally closed, Muslim religious men have been under pressure, sent to the line chambers, and an anti-religious museum has been opened. After the Second World War, the religious policy of the power has changed.
