Küresel ısınma ve beraberinde gelişen iklim değişiklikleri pek çokları tarafından dünya toplumlarının yüz yüze olduğu en büyük problem olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu problemle mücadelede kurumlar kadar bireylere de önemli görevler düşmektedir. Alışveriş davranışları, günlük ev uygulamaları ve yaşam tarzları ile ilgili konular çevre kirliliğine neden olmakta ve sera gazı salınımını artırmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Niğde ilindeki 403 haneden elde edilen veriler kullanılarak, çevre bilinci ile çevreci ev uygulamaları ve satın alma davranışı arasındaki ilişkiye ve ebeveynlerin sosyoekonomik özelliklerinin bu bağlantıya etkisine dair bulgular sunulmuştur. Çevre bilincinin bir boyutunu oluşturan farkındalığın anne ve babanın eğitimi ile arttığı, buna karşın çevreci davranışlar için eğitimin yeterli olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Benzer sonuç hane geliri bakımından da ortaya çıkmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgular bir bütün olarak değerlendirildiğinde, çevre bilincinin farkındalık boyutunun, hanelerde çevreci uygulamaların gerçekleştirmesinde yeterli olmadığı, hanelerin ancak özümseme (benimseme) düzeyinde çevre bilincine ulaşması ile çevre sorunlarının azaltılmasına destek verebileceği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Global warming and climate change are considered by many as the biggest problem faced by world communities. In the fight against this problem, individuals have important tasks as well. Themes related to shopping behaviors, daily home practices and lifestyle cause environmental pollution and increase greenhouse gas emissions. In this study, using data obtained from 403 households in the province of Niğde, the findings were presented on the relationship between environmental consciousness and environmental household practices and purchasing behavior and the impact of the socioeconomic characteristics of parents on this connection. The consciousness that forms a dimension of environmental consciousness increases with the education of the mother and father, however, the education is not sufficient for environmental behaviors. The same result has also occurred in terms of household income. When the findings obtained in the study are assessed as a whole, the environmental awareness dimension is not sufficient in the implementation of environmental practices in houses, and the houses can only support the reduction of environmental problems by achieving environmental awareness at the level of absorption (absorption).

In this study, the findings regarding the relationship between environmental awareness, environmental household practices and purchasing behavior, and the effect of socioeconomic characteristics of parents on this relationship are presented by using the data obtained from 403 households in Niğde. It was concluded that the awareness that constitutes a dimension of environmental awareness increased with the education of parents, whereas education is not sufficient for environmental behaviors. A similar result was obtained in terms of household income. When the findings obtained in the study are taken into consideration as a whole, it is concluded that the environmental awareness remaining in the awareness dimension is not sufficient for the implementation of environmental practices of the households, the households can only support the reduction of environmental problems by reaching environmental awareness at the level of internalization.
