Abstract:

Positive childhood experiences have a critical importance for the mental health of the individual. The aim of this study is to develop a scale to measure the positive childhood experiences of individuals. This is a positive childhood life scale developed in this direction. In the study, the psychometric characteristics of the scale were determined, the analytics of detection and verification factors, measurement-related validity, Cronbach alpha internal consistency and composite reliability methods were used. The study included 1331 participants (760 women and 571 men). The age range of participants is 18-70 and the average age is 32.9. The discovery factor analysis to reveal the structural validity of the measurement resulted in a scale consisting of 22 matters and a single factor that describes 55% of the total variance. The factor load of the scale varies between .40 and .86. The one-factor structure of the measurement has been tested in a different sample group by the verifying factor analysis method and the structure has been verified (x2/Df = 822.17/205, NFI = .98, CFI = 98, IFI = .98, RFI = .97, AGFI = .80, SRMR = .04). Also, significant relationships have been achieved as a result of measurement-related validity work. The Cronbach alpha internal consistency ratio of the measurement was found as .96. and the composite reliability ratio as .97. The total correlation values of the matter relating to the scale range from .37 to .83. These findings have shown that the scale can be used as a valid and reliable measurement tool to measure the positive childhood experiences of adults.
