Abstract:

he present study has opened how hegemonic masculinity values are built through daily practices in the rural up for discussion. Based on analysis of masculinity crisis experienced at global level in the rural, the study is in the aim of comprehending the relationality in the formation of hegemonic masculinity through the language of men. Hegemonic masculinity is only one of the masculinity forms which conducts different masculinities and femininities, represses them and also collaborates with them. The study is based on the thematic analysis of semi-structured deep interviews made with eight men who are public accountants in the province of Uşak. The study is significant in terms of showing the relationship not only among men but also the relationship men form with other femininities. The findings we have reached from the field show a match with the proofs in literature describing the descriptors of hegemonic masculinity in Turkey. It has been observed that the most dominant features of hegemonic masculinity are power, money and not showing emotions. Masculinity crisis in the rural shows a partial parallelism to global tendencies. Even though there happens a change, it is possible to say that the change is very slow. Rural masculinity displays the ability of containing the features of hegemonic masculinity such as being educated, strong and prestigious as well as masculinity patterns such as speaking slang, doing barbecue in the same masculinity form.
