Abstract:

The museums are seen as complementary educational spaces that support the learning processes in the school in contemporary educational paradigms and provide students with rich learning. The structure of the geography; the place of man and the interaction of them with the products of this interaction of the museums facilitates the use of the museums in geography education. However, the museums have been subject to a limited number of work done in geographical education. In this context, new studies on how to use the museums in the geography course are important because there are examples that teachers will find the possibility of direct application. The aim of this study is to develop an application recommendation on the use of museums in geography education. In the design process, a achievement included in the geography lesson curriculum was determined primarily by taking the views of geography teachers and field experts. The "work sheet" for this achievement, which contains the pre-preparations to be done before the museum training, the "application guidelines" which contain the events that may be done during the museum training, and the "measurement-events" which aim to measure the test conditions after the museum training. The proposed application proposal was taken to the opinion of two geographical specialists and one language specialist in the field of training to ensure the structure and appearance validity. In the design framework determined by taking into account the different achievements included in the geography curriculum in future research, enriched applications may be recommended.  Furthermore, using the application example designed in the experimental studies on the use of museums in geography education, the relationship between students’ interests and attitudes to the geography course can be studied.
