Abstract:

The aim of this study is to explore the possibilities of participation of children who are growing up in today’s digital world and who are able to effectively use new communication and information technologies. The right of participation contained in the UNHCR should be considered as an important advantage and privilege of the document, but it should be discussed whether the children are effectively taking advantage of the right of participation. The study discusses the informal and personal participation of children as competent social actors and actors rather than the official, public and corporate policy field where they are excluded. The study is monitoring the impact of technological developments on the change of childhood to the present day and evaluating how children born in the digital world today’s skills and competencies in the field of communication and information technologies offer opportunities to children in terms of participation. The children in which the new media enables them to quickly become aware of what happens and react, are able to take advantage of these opportunities effectively and creatively and find the opportunity to spread their thoughts to a wider area.
