Abstract:

The aim of this study; The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between bilingual students' Turkish listening anxiety, gender, class level, father's education level, mother's education level, language spoken at home, having a smart phone, the purpose of using the phone, presence of TV/radio at home, TV watching time. In this study, the relational survey model, one of the descriptive methods, was used. The participants of the research are 145 bilingual students studying at Gölbaşı Cumhuriyet Secondary School in Güroymak District of Bitlis Province. The study group was formed by using the convenient sampling method, which is one of the non-random sampling methods. “Attitude Scale Towards Listening” developed by Karakuş-Tayşi and Özbay (2016) was used as data collection tools. In data analysis, descriptive statistical measures (frequency and percentages), Normality tests (Komogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk), Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis H test and simple linear correlation (Spearman rank differences) analysis were used, respectively. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the bilingual secondary school students had a high level of attitude towards listening to Turkish. In addition, it was determined that the bilingual students' attitudes towards listening to Turkish were similar according to gender, class level, mother's education level, father's education level, having a smart phone, the language spoken at home, the purpose of using a smart phone, and watching television/radio at home. Unlike these results, it was found that the bilingual students' attitude levels towards listening to Turkish were statistically significant according to the daily television watching time.
