Abstract:

In this study, the levels of self-respect of music teachers were studied in terms of different variables. The research was carried out according to the relative scan model in a visual quality. The data of the study were obtained from surveys conducted with 125 music teachers working in different stages of the official and private schools associated with the Ministry of National Education in the West Black Sea Region. The level of self-respect of music teachers has been determined to change or not according to gender, age, year of service, civil status, the institution in which they work, weekly play time, perception of their economic situation, learning status variables. The study used the "Personal Information Form" consisting of 7 questions as a data collection tool and the "Rosenberg Identity Respect Scale" consisting of 10 questions. The findings obtained from this study found that the level of self-respect of music teachers was "mediate". In other words, the level of perception of the self-respect of the music teachers who participated in the research was not too high, but positive. Considering whether the teachers who participated in the study showed differences in their levels of self-esteem according to their demographic characteristics; the teachers’ gender, professional status, time and educational conditions dedicated to the gameplay lead to significant differences in their levels of self-esteem/point, the civil status, the institution studied and the economic status perception variations have not resulted in significant differences in their levels of self-esteem.
