Abstract:

The objective assessment of participation, which is an important indicator of the development and learning process, will contribute to the determination of the factors affecting the participation levels and to the arrangements to be made to increase the participation levels. The aim of this study is to study the participation levels of children aged 60-72 months in pre-school institutions in terms of different variables. The study universe of this research was formed by 60-72 months of children in the educational year 2018-2019 continuing to the primary schools and independent kindergartens of the Ministry of National Education in the center of Afyonkarahisar province. The sample group of the study was determined by the maximum variety of sample methods of targeting sample, and the sample of the study was formed by a total of 527 children in the 2018-2019 educational year, continuing to the primary schools and independent kindergartens of the Ministry of National Education in the center of the province of Afyonkarahisar. The study used the "General Information Form" developed by the researcher in order to collect demographic information and the "Leuven Participation Scale for Small Children" in order to determine the levels of participation of children. In the analysis of the data obtained from the study; in the normality test of Kolmogorov-Smirnoff (K-S), in non-normal distribution groups, the differences between groups were studied while Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H Test were used. The study found that there was no significant difference between the children’s participation levels according to the variables of gender and brotherhood, the status of previous pre-school education, the educational level of the parents, the professional status of the parents and the parents, the difference between the children’s participation levels according to the variables of gender and brotherhood.
