Edebiyatın gelişimi geçmişten bugüne uzanan kesintisiz bir çizgi olarak tanımlandığında ve edebiyata bu gözle bakıldığında elbette bir gelenekten söz edildiği açıktır. Çünkü bu noktada bu çizgi üzerindeki her durağın önceki duraklardan kimi izleri bünyesinde barındırdığı anlayışı ön plana çıkmaktadır. Geleneği önemseyen, ondan az veya çok faydalanmayı, bu iz üzerinden yürüyerek onu yeni bir bakış açısıyla geleceğe taşımayı kayda değer bir ölçü kabul eden şairler ve anlayışlar açısından gelenek vazgeçilemez bir kaynaktır. Elbette edebiyat tarihi içinde geleneği eleştiren, onu reddeden şair ve anlayışlar da kimi zaman var olagelmiştir. Geleneği reddedenlerin aksine Hilmi Yavuz, geleneği önemseyen, ondan faydalanarak onu şiirinin önemli bir kaynağına dönüştüren şairlerdendir. Yavuz gerek klasik Türk şiirinden, gerek halk şiirinden, gerekse de Batı şiirinden faydalanmaya çalışanlardandır. Bu yüzden onun şiirlerinde geleneğin çeşitli izlerine çokça rastlanmaktadır. Bu makalede önce gelenek, gelenek ve Hilmi Yavuz ilişkisi üzerinde durulacak daha sonra Hilmi Yavuz’un şiirlerine, geleneğin önemli unsurlarından biri olan türküler açısından yaklaşılacaktır.
When the evolution of literature is defined as an uninterrupted line from the past to the present, and literature is seen in this perspective, it is obvious that it is a tradition. For at this point, the understanding that each station on this line has some traces in the front line from the previous stations. The tradition is an indispensable source for poets and concepts who take a considerable measure to take the tradition, to take little or much advantage of it, to move it through this trace with a new perspective to the future. Of course, in literary history, the poet who criticizes the tradition, who rejects it, and understands it, have sometimes existed. Unlike those who deny the tradition, Hilmi Yavuz is one of the poets who care about the tradition, taking advantage of it and making it an important source of poetry. Yavuz is one of those who try to take advantage of the classical Turkish poetry, the popular poetry, and the Western poetry. Therefore, in his poems many traces of the tradition are found. This article will first focus on the tradition, tradition and the relationship between Hilmi Yavuz; then the poems of Hilmi Yavuz will be approached from the point of view of the Turkular, one of the important elements of the tradition.

At this point, the understanding that each stop on this line contains some traces of previous stops comes into prominence. Tradition is an indispensable source in terms of poets and understandings that care about the tradition, that make more or less use of it and that transfer it to the future with a new perspective by walking over those traces is a significant criterion for them. Of course, poets understanding, criticizing and rejecting tradition have existed in the history of literature at alltimes. Contrary to those who reject tradition, Hilmi Yavuz is one of the poets who gives importance to tradition and makes use of it to turn it into a significant source of his poetry. Yavuz is one of those who try to make use of the classic Turkish poetry, folk poetry and Western poetry. For this reason, various traces of the tradition can be encountered in his poems. In this article, first, the focus will be set on the tradition and the relationship between the tradition and Hilmi Yavuz, and, second, the poems of Hilmi Yavuz will be approached in terms of folk songs, one of the significant elements of the tradition.
