Gelişen ve değişen dünyada çocuk sürekli olarak teknolojik araçlarla ve kitle iletişim araçlarıyla yüze yüze gelmektedir. Karşılaştığı bu teknolojik dünya içerisinde çocuğun görsel imgelerle etkileşim kurması olası bir durumdur; ancak bu etkileşim sonucunda görsel imgeleri anlamlandırabilmesi için bazı becerilere sahip olması gerekmektedir. Geleneksel becerilerin dışında kalan görsel imgeleri okuma becerisine sahip olan çocuk dış dünyayı daha rahat bir şekilde anlamlandıracaktır. Görsellik günlük yaşamda kendisini hissettirse de eğitim alanında çok fazla önemsenmemekteydi. Çocuk eğitim ortamlarında görsel araç ve gereçlerle ya karşılaşmamakta ya da karşılaşsa bile görsel imgeleri anlayamamaktaydı. Görsel araç ve gereçlerin eğitim ortamlarına girmesiyle birlikte görsel imgeleri okumanın önemi daha da arttı. Çünkü çocukların karşılaştıkları görselleri anlayabilmeleri ve yorumlayabilmeleri için bu görselleri nasıl okuyacaklarını da bilmeleri gerekmektedir. Bu durumdan yola çıkılarak 2005-2006 eğitim öğretim yılında uyulamaya konan İlköğretim Türkçe Dersi Öğretim Programı (1-5. sınıflar) na dinleme, konuşma, okuma ve yazma temel becerilerine ek olarak “Görsel Okuma ve Görsel Sunu” kazanımlarının da eklenmesi yaşamakta olduğumuz dünyanın gereksinimlerine uygun bireyler yetiştirme yolunda önemli bir adımdır. Görsel okuryazarlık sayesinde çocuk hem günlük yaşamında hem de eğitim hayatında görsel öğeler hakkında bilgi sahibi olup olay ve nesneler hakkında mantıksal ve duygusal çıkarımlarda bulunabilecektir. Derleme niteliğindeki bu çalışmada öğrencilerin görsel imgelerle karşılaştıklarında bunları okuma, yorumlama ve değerlendirme yapabilmeleri için çeşitli bulgular etrafında tartışmayı amaçlamıştır.
In the evolving and changing world, children are constantly faced with technological tools and mass media. In this technological world the child is likely to interact with visual images, but the result of this interaction requires some skills to understand visual images. The child, who has the ability to read the visual images left beyond the traditional skills, will understand the outside world more comfortably. The vision feels itself in everyday life, but it doesn’t matter much in the field of education. The child was unable to understand the visual images in the educational environments, either if he met or even if he met with visual tools and tools. As visual tools and tools enter the educational environments, the importance of reading visual images has increased. Because children need to know how to read these images so that they can understand and interpret the images they encounter. Starting from this situation in the 2005-2006 educational year, the Primary Education Turkish lesson teaching program (1-5 classes) is an important step in the way of training individuals in accordance with the needs of the world where we live, in addition to the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, the addition of the "Visual Reading and Visual Presentation" achievements is an important step in the way of training individuals in accordance with the needs of the world we live. Thanks to visual literature, the child will be able to learn about visual elements in both daily life and educational life and find logical and emotional conclusions about events and objects. In this study in the nature of the compilation, it aims to discuss various findings around them so that when students encounter visual images, they can read, interpret and evaluate them.
Today, in a rapidly advancing and transforming world, the children continuously encounter technological tools and the mass media. It is probable for children to interact with visual images in this technological setting; however, they need to have specific skills so that they can make sense of the visual images included in this interaction. The children with visual reading skills in addition to traditional skills will interpret the external world more comfortably. While visuality has always been influential in daily life, it was not given much importance in education before. The students either did not come across visual tools in instructional settings or they were not able to comprehend them properly. The importance of visual literacy has become more pronounced when visual tools have become a part of educational settings since knowledge of how to read visual images is crucial in comprehending and interpreting them. Based on this, adding the acquisitions of “Visual Reading and Visual Presentations” in addition to basic skills such as listening, speaking and writing to Primary Education Turkish Teaching Program (Grades 1-5) implemented since 2005-2006 academic year is an important step in training individuals in line with the needs of the modern world. With the help of visual literacy skills, students will be able to gather information about the visual elements encountered both in daily life and education and they will be able to make logical and affective inferences about objects. This study, a review, intended to discuss visual reading based on various findings so that students can read, interpret and evaluate visual images when they encounter them.
