Özet:

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of computer-aided teaching on student success compared to traditional teaching methods within the contempo- rary Turkish Educational System. The study was carried out in spring semester of 2006-2007 academic year at Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Education, De- partment of Primary Teacher Education Program, with forth year students who were divided into classes A and B. Class A was used as an experimental group and class B as control group, which were selected randomly. The Health and the First Aid course were taught by computer-aided method to the experiment group while the control group was taught by traditional method. The 25-item multiple choice achievement test developed by the researchers (Cronbach Alpha= 0.82) was used in study as scale. All students were given a test consisting of 25 items and the test was applied before and after the application as pre- and post-test. The data col- lected were analyzed through using Single Factor ANCOVA (Convergence Analy- sis) test for comparisons between the groups and t-test for inter-group changes. It was concluded that computer-aided teaching of Health and First Aid Courses was more effective compared to classical teaching methods.
