In this study, the effect of computer aided Realistic Mathematics Education Method on students' academic success, the persistence of acquired concepts and the formation of misconceptions were investigated. For this purpose, semi-experimental study was performed in a primary school by using criterion sampling and easily reachable sampling method in İzmir province. Computer aided realistic mathematics education environment was applied on the experimental group. Based on the 2017-2018 Academic Year Primary School 4th Grade Mathematics Education Program, the existing teaching activities in the textbook were applied in the constructivist philosophy and control group. In this study, quantitative methods were used to determine the students' academic success and permanence, and qualitative methods were used to identify misconceptions. The study totaled six weeks. In the light of the findings obtained in the study, a significant difference was found between the pre and post test scores of both groups in favor of the last test. The results of the academic achievement of the experimental group and the control groups were significantly in favor of the experimental group. In addition, experimental group students' persistence test results were significantly higher than the control group students. After the study, misconceptions were found in some of the students in both groups. However, the misconception of experimental group students was less than the other group.
