Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to study the student’s views on the use of open end questions along with already selectively asked questions in the large-scale examinations. The research is designed by a karma method that requires the qualitative and quantitative research to be used together. In the qualitative section of the study, a interview form was created by the researcher, and the participants to apply the interview form were determined by the homogeneous (similar) sample method from the purpose sample methods. The results of the interview were analyzed by the content analysis method, 11 different topics were obtained. For the quantitative part of the study, the maximum diversity sampling method was used, and the survey developed by the researcher was applied to eighth-class students in a school selected from each educational area. The answers to the survey subjects were analyzed by visual statistical method. The study has shown that students are sure their information will be measured exactly regardless of the type of question used. Students have found the advantages of using already selectively asked questions in large-scale examinations as well as the disadvantages of success as well as the objectivity and the ease of score. Students have noted that the assessment of the open end question type will not be objective, so it will be difficult to ensure their score reliability in the assessment of the open end questions. Students pointed out that if the open-end question type was used in large-scale examinations, they would give more space to this type of question in their personal studies.
