Abstract:

Turkish Language is one of the oldest languages in the world. This language has been processed in different places and come up to now through the centuries. In this period, it has been learnt and taught. For that purpose a lot of monuments were erected, dictionaries were compiled, grammar books were written. Information compiled from ancient Turkish monuments and archives of china shows that there were reading and writing instruction in Turkish society as well as instruction of skills used daily life. After Islam was introduced started to use Arabic alphabet, however they saved their own language. In the first Muslim Turkish states, Turkish was used in official correspondences. This study is focused on the history of Turkish language education. In this direction, activities of Turkish language education that were before being exposed to Islamic civilization were introduced in short way. History of Turkish language education was separated in two chapters as before and after Islam. In those two chapters, important titles from history of Turkish language education were mentioned and especially some explanations were given for Divanu Lugati’t-Turk and Muhakamatu’l-Lugatayn. Turkish language education methods written in a couple of books were especially evaluated. A little of Turkish grammar rules which were written after Islam was introduced in short way. Especially Turkish language education was emphasized in Chagatai related way
