Abstract:

The success of reading understanding increases as a result of the monitoring and control of the cognitive process through supernova strategies. Over-knowledge strategies take place as reading strategies in reading education. As a result of the development of the supernova awareness of students, the use of strategy is placed consciously. It is important that teachers' candidates make their reading strategies skills for them to be able to develop their students in this perspective in the future. This study aims to describe the levels of teaching candidates using reading strategies. The research was carried out in the screening model. The research was conducted in the 2016-2017 educational and teaching period at the Faculty of Education of the University of Bartin, with 297 teachers candidates studying in class teaching, social information, Turkish, math and science knowledge teaching departments, 2nd and 3rd classes. The data of the research was collected with the scale of the Over-Listening Strategies. The analysis of the data found that the teaching candidates frequently use reading strategies, the level of using reading strategies has no significant differences from gender to gender, the level of reading and the level of reading habits have significant differences. Based on the research findings; the introduction of reading strategies in the teaching programmes and educational processes in order to enhance the use of reading strategies by educational faculty students; the attempt of teachers to provide sensual, cognitive and behavioral contributions to the teaching candidates; the conduct of the subject-related long-term and quality research is recommended.
