This study has two parts. The first part is the effects of cartoons on the academic achiecement & retention of knowledge on the primary education students. In the second one, students’ perspectives on the cartoon science education is examined. The participants formed as 20 students in control group and 21 students in experiment group, in a total of 41 students. The experiment group examined the electricity in our lives unit with the cartoons and the pedagogy of 7E model in constructivist approach. Control group carried out their traditional education in the previous years. At the end of standardized tests and retention test about the electricty in our lives subject, it is observed that experiment group is more successfull than the control group based on these tests. In addition, semi-structured interviews are conducted and it is concluded that cartoons assist the retention of knowledge, the repetition of knowledge, increasing the participation level of the students and making relations easier with science education concepts
