Bu çalışmanın amacı bir örgüt olarak okulda meydana gelen çatışma nedenleri ve çözüm yollarına yönelik okul müdürlerinin görüşlerini derinlemesine incelenmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda araştırmacı çalışma boyunca “Okulda meydana gelen çatışmaların nedenleri nelerdir?” ve “Çatışmaların çözümleri için ne tür stratejiler kullanılabilir?” sorularına yanıt aramıştır. Bu çalışma nitel araştırma yaklaşımı anlayışı çerçevesindegerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubuaz 10 yıldır müdürlük görevini sürdüren 12 okul yöneticisinden meydana gelmektedir. Yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat yöntemi ile elde edilen veriler betimleyici bakış açısına göre NVIVO 9 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Buna göre çalışmaya katılan okul müdürleri çatışma nedenlerini örgütün büyüklüğü, iletişim engelleri, kaynak yetersizliği, ortak değer ve görüşlerin yokluğu, yönetim biçimindeki farklılıklar, personeller arasındaki bireysel farklılıklar ile statü ve rol farklılıkları şeklinde sıralamışlardır. Ayrıca araştırmacı okul müdürlerinin okulda var olan çatışmaları ortadan kaldırmak için başvurdukları yöntemleriçoktanaza doğru: kaçınma, taviz verme (uyma-itaat etme), uzlaşma (karşılıklı ödün verme), zorlama (hükmetme-üstünlük kurma) ve pazarlık (bütünleştirme-tümleştirme-işbirliği) şeklinde bulmuştur. Bulgular doğrultusunda araştırmacı okul müdürleri için çatışma yönetimi hakkında hizmet içi eğitim seminerlerinin düzenlenmesi, çatışmanın normal bir durum olduğunu düşüncesinin müdürlere kazandırılması, çatışma ile başa çıkabilmede sabırlı olunması, çatışma nedenlerinin tespit edilmesi ve farklı yöntemlerin ise koşulması gibi birtakım önerilerde bulunmuştur.
