: Dative Shifting means the replacement of the indirect object by the direct object and double object constructions refer to the usage of the two objects with the verb In such constructions whether the object is the direct or the indirect one can be determined by observing the case marking they take in different grammatical constructions and the regular patterning in relation to the case of the either objects can be defined Thus rules pertaining to the direct and indirect object can be established The purpose of this study is to test the validity of Rude’s 1997 approach on the dative shifting and ditransitive constructions which is assumed to work for Turkish grammar using the database from the natural interactional context By this way it is also aimed to confirm the previous studies on the ditransitive constructions conducted on the Turkish object which have revealed that the Turkish indirect object mostly marked with either ‘ y I’ dative case marker or no case marking at all Key Words: Dative Shifting Double Object Constructions Indirect Object Direct Object
