From the perspective of travelogues, 19th century was a period that travels to the Ottoman territories reached its peak. In these travel, determined by political, social and economic conditions of the empire, so many travelers from different occupational groups visited especially Anatolia for their own interests. When we focused on the Black Sea Region, one can see the importance of Victor FONTANIER’s travels. The oriental adventure of FONTANIER, started by the order of the French government in 1821 had gained a different character after his appointment as consular agent to Trabzon in 1830. FONTANIER wrote two important works about the oriental mission from 1821s. In the first, the author narrated his travels continued until 1829; in the second his observation obtained from Trabzon where he served as consular agent between 1830 and 1832. This paper aims to examine FONTANIER’s single trip to Batum in his consular mission at Trabzon
