Kurumlar ücret ve ücret sistemlerinin iyi belirlenmiş stratejiler içerisinde ele alması ve detaylarının ayrıntılı olarak planlaması gerekmektedir. Kurumların ücret ve ödüllendirme stratejilerinden farklı beklentileri bulunmaktadır. İlk beklenti, istenen nitelikteki kişilerin şirkete çekilebilmesi ve sonrasında elde tutulabilmesidir. İkinci beklenti, ücret stratejisinin maliyeti yönetebilen ve kontrol edebilen bir yapıya sahip olmasıdır. Diğer bir beklenti ise çalışanların daha iyi performans sergilemeleri konusunda motivasyon unsuru oluşturması olarak sıralayabiliriz. Günümüzde ücret konusu çok karmaşık bir hal almıştır. Bir çok gelişmiş ülkelerde ücret ve ücretlendirme konusu bilimsel çalışmalara ve tartışmalara konu olmaktadır
