Abstract Human history has witnessed the establishment of male domination. Men power on ownership, religion, moral values signify an understanding on legitimacy approved by society caused by reproduction of patriarchal power. Thus, the patriarchal power is a male-dominated structure formed in accordance with the interests of the goverment and finds its source of life in general public, practitioner of the social norms. At the same time, the patriarchal structure, maintaining the Status Quo, provides convenience to those who intend to keep and continue their power/authority. The patriarchal social structure works according to the domination of men. Patriarchal structures , especially in the societies where the monotheistic religions are accepted, reign as inversely proportional to the level of civilization. It is considered that the lineage continues over men. The perception adopting that the man is seed and the woman is soil, reduces the woman to a carrier to maintain the human race.This makes great impact on the understanding of human relations . Social and legal norms , are made up and applied within the framework of this understanding in order to maintain the social order. This is considered normal within the framework of social order. The socialization is realized on the basis of this understanding and the values are reproduced accordingly . Male-dominated actions realized by communication through the media , reproduce the patriarchal social understanding . This study takes the reproduction and the construction of hegemony of the goverment performed through the men as the subject matter and its purpose is to reveal the role of patriarchal discourse on the power/domination relations constructed and reproduced in the media texts.The patriarchal understanding in the historical process of social and political construction of the societies with monotheistic religions ,has undergone and undergoing change and transformation in line with the level of development and the functioning of democracy.The patriarchal understanding and social practises are dominant features mainly in rural areas of Turkey where the traditional way of living is prevailing and this patriarchal approach is being transported to large cities and developed European countries by internal and external migration .Method of the study is focused on the commentary of patriarchy and power concepts represented by male dominance and how the power relations are established and reproduced as communicative action will be discussed according to the theory of hegemony and the sociological analysis of the films " 40 sq.m. Germany" will be made according to the theory of hegemony . Key Concepts: Patriarchal Structure, Social / Legal Norms, Male Dominant Perspective, Gender.
