Abstract:

The main topic focused on this study is to determine how much the political parties in Turkey have attended the environmental issue in their election statements they prepared for the 24th June 2018 Parliamentary General Election, which codes/themes they use under the environmental title and the rates of use in both the environmental sections and the general text included in the statements of the relevant codes/themes. The data used in the research was obtained by the method of document examination and used by content analysis. As a result of the analysis of the data, the AK Party’s election statement shows that they use the environment-related many water codes, the energy code of the CHP, MHP and the GOOD Party, and the HDP use the nature code. When the five political parties are examining the election statements, it is clear that the topics that are frequently passed in the election statements of the AK Party, CHP, HDP and the GOOD Party are the ecosystem. The Declaration of the Environmental Codes is the Declaration of the Election of the AK Party with 1159 and the Declaration of the Environmental Codes. The study found that the parties, compared to issues such as economic, domestic and foreign policy, kept the environmental title in their statements in terms of both the number of pages, the order of the title and the visual use preferences. When examining the codes in the statements, it appears that no party uses the codes of biosecurity, ecosystem management, environmental law and habitat. Similarly, it has been found that the water/air/ground/view/luck pollution codes, which are headlines directly related to the environmental issue, are not sufficiently used in the statements. Therefore, it can be said that there are some problems in the approach of the political parties to the environment.
