Abstract:

The aim of the study is to evaluate the 10th grade mathematics curriculum. Explanatory mixed design was used in the study. In the study, 552 students for the 1st term achievement test, 575 students for the 2nd term achievement test and 583 students for the attitude scale were included. Interviews were conducted with 41 students. The data of the study were obtained using the attitude scale towards mathematics course developed by Baykul (1990) as well as the achievement test and semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers. Mean, percentage, Wilcoxon signed-rank test and content analysis were used to analyze the data. Based on the findings, it was concluded that the achievement level of 10th grade students was at moderate level. It was determined that the achievement level of the students increased at the end of the year compared to the beginning of the academic year. It was determined that students’ attitudes towards mathematics course decreased at the end of the year compared to the beginning of the year. Students stated that their achievement and attitude towards mathematics course changed depending on their interest in the course. In the study, suggestions were made for activities to increase students’ achievement ant attitudes towards the mathematics course.
