Özet Bu çalışmanın ana çerçevesini, Bosna Hersek Müslümanlarının, özellikle 1991 yılındaki Sırbistan ile aralarındaki savaş yıllarındaki gerilimli dönemde, Mart 1991 nüfus sayımında kendilerini ifade etmede Müslüman tanımlamasını kullanmalarının önemini değerlendirmek oluşturmaktadır. Yugoslavya içindeki Hırvat, Sırp gibi diğer nüfus unsurları aynı nüfus sayımında kendilerini etnik kökenleri ile belirtmişlerdir. Bosnalı Müslümanlar ise kendilerini Boşnak olarak nitelendirmek de mümkün iken Müslüman vurgusunu tercih etmişlerdir. O dönem koşullarına baktığımızda sadece bağımsızlık ve rejim karşıtlığı vurgusu bize yeterli veri sağlamamaktadır. Avrupa’nın Doğusunda, sosyalist bir rejimin son döneminde bağımsızlığı ve dini, bağımsızlık ile özdeş hale getiren ya da bağımsızlık vurgusunu dini kimlik olmaksızın laik ya da liberal bir arayışa sığınmadan ifade etmenin önemi kuşkusuz dikkate değerdir. Kültürün unsuru olarak din, devlet biçimi olarak din veya bireyin tercihi durumu birbirinden farklıdır. Bosna örneği ise, toplumsal bir tercihi daha derin bir incelemeyi bize zorunlu kılmaktadır. Bosna, Hıristiyanların ve Müslümanların uzun zamandan beri birlikte yaşadıkları bir toplumdu. Boşnakça Sırplar tarafından da konuşulan bir dildi. The main framework of this study is to evaluate the importance of Muslim Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially during the tension period of the war years between Serbia and them in 1991, to use Muslim identification to express themselves in the March 1991 population count.
