Abstract:

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the use of student-centered methods and techniques in teaching Turkish Language and Literature according to the opinions of teachers and students. In the study, case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. Research data was collected using a semi-structured interview form, and the data obtained was analyzed by content analysis. Data was coded and analyzed using the MAXQDA 2022 program, one of the BDNVAY programs. Based on the information given by teachers and students in the interviews, it was determined that the most preferred methods in Turkish Language and Literature courses were the lecture method and the question and answer method; Discussion method, role playing method, cooperative learning method and problem solving method are other methods used. In the interviews, crowded classes and anxiety about the university placement exam were stated by both teachers and students as obstacles to the use of student-centered methods and techniques. As a result of the research, it was concluded that reasons such as crowded classes, financial difficulties and some school administrators' emphasis on traditional methods and techniques prevent the use of student-centered methods and techniques. It has been observed that teachers learned teaching methods and techniques at a knowledge level during their university education, and that they only had the opportunity to practice them after being appointed due to insufficient internship periods. It has been concluded that this situation creates a problem in terms of creating a student-centered education process.
