Bu çalışmanın esas konusu, 27 Mayıs 1960 tarihinde yapılan hükümet darbesinin liderliğini üstlenen Cemal Madanoğlu’nun 27 Mayıs süreci ve bu süreçte yaşadıklarıdır. Kurulmuş olan komitenin darbeye komuta edecek bir lider arayışı üzerine Cemal Madanoğlu Tümgeneral rütbesiyle liderliği üstlenmiş, emir komuta zinciri dikkate alınmaksızın darbe gerçekleştirilmiştir. Hükümetin düşürülmesinden sonra bir Milli Birlik Komitesi kurulmuş, komiteye başkan seçilen Cemal Madanoğlu’nun inisiyatifi ile hukuk profesörlerinden oluşan bir Anayasa Komisyonu kurulmuştur. Milli Birlik Komitesi ilk iş olarak sivilleşme çabasına girmiştir. Cemal Madanoğlu bu süreçte en erken vakitte seçimlere gitmek ve hükümeti sivilleştirmek için uğraşmıştır. Fakat çabaları sonuç vermemiştir. Komite içindeki anlaşmazlıklar artmış, komitede gruplaşmalar başlamıştır. Ana hatlarıyla Cemal Madanoğlu’nun ve Alparslan Türkeş’in başını çektiği iki grup oluşmuştur. Türkeş ve grubunun sivilleşmeye müsaade etmemesi, askerî yönetim kurma çabası Türkeş’in Başbakanlık Müsteşarlığı görevinden alınmasına sebep olmuştur. Fakat anlaşmazlık devam etmiş ve sivilleşmeye karşı olan 14 üye komiteden tasfiye edilmiştir. Tasfiyenin uygulama evresinde ise Cemal Madanoğlu bulunmuştur.
The main subject of this study is the process of 27 May and the process of Cemal Madanoğlu, who took over the leadership of the government coup on 27 May 1960 and who lived in this process. On the search for a leader to command the coup of the established committee, Cemal Madanoğlu took the leadership with the general rank, the command command chain was carried out without taking into account the coup. After the fall of the government, a National Union Committee was established, a Constitutional Committee consisting of law professors was established on the initiative of Cemal Madanoğlu, who was elected president of the committee. The National Union Committee is the first to enter into the civilisation effort. Cemal Madanoğlu has tried to go to elections early in this process and to civilize the government. But their efforts did not result. Disputes in the committee have increased, and groups in the committee have started. The main lines were made up of two groups headed by Cemal Madanoğlu and Alparslan Turkeş. The failure of Turkish and its group to civilizate, the attempt to establish a military administration has led to the withdrawal of Turkish Prime Minister's Office. But the dispute continued and 14 members of the committee against civilisation were dismissed. At the stage of the purification was found Cemal Madanoğlu.
