Velûd bir âlim olan İbnü’l-Cârûd’a, farklı alanlarda olmak üzere birçok eser nispet edilmiştir. Bu eserlerden biri olan ve sadece fıkhî ahkâmla ilgili rivayetleri konu edinen el-Müntekâ, hadis rivayetinde tevsîk edilen hocalardan elde edilen rivayetlerle oluşturulmuştur. Eser, ilgili ilim çevrelerince takdir edilmiş ve Müslümanlar nezdinde hüsn-ü kabûle mazhar olmuştur. Eserde tahrîc edilen 1114 rivayetin kahir ekseriyeti sahih kabul edilmiş, geri kalan rivayetler ise hasen sayılmıştır. Nitekim eserde yer alan rivayetlerden sadece yirmi beşi dışındakilerin Kütüb-i Sitte’de de yer alması eserin sağlam oluşunu teyit etmesi açısından önemlidir. Öte yandan İbnü’l-Cârûd, semâ etmediği bazı hocalarından tahdis ettiği rivayetleri eserine almasından dolayı bazı âlimlerce tenkit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte esere yönelik yapılan bazı değerlendirmelerde ise el-Müntekâ’da yer alan bir kısım rivayetler zayıf kabul edilmiştir. Ancak sonraları konuyla ilgili yapılan araştırmalarda İbnü’l-Cârûd’un el-Müntekâ’sında söz konusu hocalardan rivayette bulunulmadığı ve rivayetlerin zayıf olarak değerlendirilmesinde ise isabet edilmediği görülmüştür.
