Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of Team-Assisted Individualization Technique, which is one of the techniques of cooperative learning method, on achievement, attitude toward the lesson, logical thinking skills and retention of information in "Let's Solve Our Body's Puzzle" unit of the 5th grade of the Science course. The study group consists of 50 5th grade students studying at a primary school affiliated to the National Education Directorate in Gaziantep / Nizip. In this study, "Academic Achievement Test" containing the unit "Let's Solve Our Body's Puzzle", "Attitude Scale towards Science and Technology Course" and Logical Thinking Test "were used as data collection tools. The quantitative data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS program. In the study, dependent and independent t-tests were used to analyze quantitative data. In the study, it was determined that the Team-Assisted Individualization Technique, which is one of the techniques of cooperative learning method, had no effect on the students 'achievements and the students' attitudes towards science and technology lesson, while the unit of "Let's Solve Our Body's Puzzle" in the 5th grade of Science lesson had no effect on logical thinking. In addition, according to the results of the retention test applied, it was determined that the academic success of the students in the experimental group, in which the Team Assisted Individualization Technique was applied, was more permanent than the students in the control group, where the teaching method prescribed by the current program was applied.
