Abstract:

Thro the history of Turkey and Iran, because of its geographical proximity, many political, social, economic, and cultural contacts have been constantly established with each other. In addition to the struggles between the two ancient states, as well as the political and social events in which they live in themselves, they have been very closely influenced by each other.In the first half of the 20th century, Atatürk and Shah Rıza Pehlevi have turned their faces to the west with their political and social scope and the incrusts of the two countries in the same axis. The event of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in the last quarter has caused a number of concerns and anxieties between the two countries about how the course of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has a secular regime and a religious basis, will be.The last period of the Pehlevi Dynasty has been completely under U.S. influence, the national income has not been equally distributed, the negative consequences of the policies that have only lived in a secular state and are carried out in this direction have led to a strong opposition against the Shah family and the regime. The co-operation of different political structures with a common purpose has made it possible that the Islamic Revolution occurred in Iran in an unexpected way. The Islamic Revolution in Iran has led to different perceptions and reflections in the Turkish press. Different newspapers called the right and the left press have been evaluated according to their own world views. In our work we will try to explore how the Iranian Islamic Revolution was addressed in the Turkish press through the Lightning Gazette. The most important factor in our choice of the Lightning newspaper is that, despite its adoption of a leftist ideology, it has a very positive view of the religious Islamic Revolution in Iran. As a time limit for our work, the process will be addressed from the first days of 1979 when the revolution’s footprints began to be heard the strongest, until the end of April when Humeyni founded the Islamic Republic of Iran. The aim of our study is to show how the Iranian Islamic Revolution was perceived and evaluated by the Lightning Gazette from the publication bodies located on the left of the political range. In this study, through the Aydinlık Gazetesi, a contribution was made to the area by exploring what the effects of the Islamic Revolution in the Turkish press and the public in Turkey were created and how the relations between Turkey and Iran were influenced by the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
