This research was carried out to investigate the effects of personality characteristics of hospital employees’ on their organizational commitment and work values. With this aim, the five factor personality test, work values and organizational commitment questionnaire consisting of tests was con-ducted on 340 employees working in 6 private hospitals in Istanbul. The data obtained from questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 17.0 statistical program. In determining the relationship between the participants’ personality traits and their work values and organizational commitment, correlation analysis was used; in examining the effect of employees' personality traits on work values and organizational commitment, regression analysis was used. As a result of research, levels of hospital staff’s personality traits of extraversion and responsibility had a positive effect on the level of value placed on their work; on the other hand, levels of emotional instability personality had a negative effect on the level of value placed on their work. Further, in the research, the hospital staff’s personality characteristics and responsibility levels of agreeableness were found to positively affect the level of commitment to organizations; on the other hand, other personality characteristics which are extraversion, emotional instability, and openness were found to be independent of the level of commitment to the organizations.
