Abstract:

The need in the social field and the need in the professional life and the good management of the emotional state has an important place in the satisfaction of the person's life. The state of emotional intelligence and communication in teaching, especially in a social profession, is very important. The relationship between teachers' emotional intelligence and communication skills can affect their approaches to students, their professional achievements. From these aspects, this study aims to determine the relationship between the emotional intelligence and communication skills of the Turkish teachers. Based on the relational scan model, 284 volunteer Turkish teachers participated in this study. As a measurement tool developed by Reuven Bar-On (1997) and adapted to Turkish by Mumcuoğlu (2002) with the emotional intelligence inventory (EQ-i) developed by Huang and Lin (2018) and adapted to Turkish by Chinpolat, Çıkrıkçı (2021) the Interpersonal Communication Competence inventory (KİYE) was used. According to the analysis results of the SPSS 22.0 program, there is a meaningful relationship between the teachers’ communication skills and the levels of emotional intelligence.
