Abstract:

People's stories begin to be transmitted to the written cultural environment with the weakness of verbal culture. Writing and stone printing scenes are the first examples of stories transmitted into written cultural environments. Stories lose some of their characteristics of the oral cultural environment while transmitted to the written cultural environment. To the text transmitted to the stone printed scenes, images appropriate to the events of the stories have been added to the purpose of removing the vaccines caused by the characteristics that cannot be transmitted from the verbal cultural environments and to support the narrative. One of the tools used to compensate for the missing features of stories is the pointing signs. The pointing signs began to be used with the matbu printing of the stories. Thus, the use of pointing signs also reflects the changes and transformations that stories experience when transmitted from the oral cultural environment to the written cultural environment. One of the people who made the matbu printings of the people is Solomon Tevfik Özzorluoğlu. In our article we have studied the functions of the pointing signs used in the stories that Solomon Tevfik Özzorluoğlu prepared matbu printing in order to show the change and transformation of public stories in the context of pointing signs. The study was limited to twenty stories published between 1911 and 1938. In this study, it is achieved that pointing signs have taken important functions in public stories transmitted to the written cultural environment.
