In this study, the effectiveness of the professional decision-making group guidance program based on the theory of processing the information developed by Kırdök (2010) for ninth-class students on the levels of professional instability was tested. For this purpose, 16 students who are studying in a high school’s 10th class were identified as a study group of 32 students, including 16 in the control group. The study used a 2x2 split-pilot or mixed pattern, which can also be defined as a pre-test-final test control group pattern. As a data collection tool, the professional decision-making training program has been used for the purpose of determining the levels of professional instability by Çakır (2004) in order to determine the professional decision-making program. The professional decision-making program, conducted by the first researcher with students in the experimental group, was applied as 10 sessions in the form of a 70-80-minute session per week. The analyses showed that there was no significant difference between the average of the previous test points of the test and control groups, while a significant difference between the average of the last test points was observed. The findings show that the job uncertainty scores of students in the experiment group have significantly decreased compared to the job uncertainty scores of students in the control group. This outcome shows that the professional decision-making program tested in the framework of the research is effective in reducing the levels of professional uncertainty of ten-class students.
