After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Byzantine effort of the West to create a new "other" has brought the Islamic and Western world to a new face. One of the most important developments that contributed to this was the "Civilization Conflict" thesis. This thesis, which Professor Samuel Huntigton from Harvard University received, was used as one of the most fundamental tools to legitimize the conflict between Islam and the West. According to this theory, the conflicts and struggles that will now arise in the international arena or in the new world system after the Cold War will arise from ideological, not economic, and cultural reasons. At the heart of the conflict will be Islam and Western civilization. This dissertation brought a lot of voice around the world and caused intense discussions. Thus, while the theory is discussed, research shows that the phenomenon called Islamophobia against Muslims, formed in the axis of discrimination and intolerance, especially in the United States and European countries, has gone up. In this context, we will work on the relationship between Islamophobia and Civilizations Conflict theory that is rising in the EU countries.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the effort of the West to create a new “other” itself brought Islam and the Western world back. One of the most important developments contributing to this has been the 'Clash of Civilizations' thesis. This thesis, written by Harvard University Professor Samuel Huntigton, was used as one of the most basic tools that justified the conflict between Islam and the West. According to this theory, the conflicts and struggles that will take place in the international arena or in the new world system after the Cold War will arise from ideological, not economic and cultural reasons. Islam and Western civilization will be at the center of the conflict. This thesis, which has been brought forward, has made a great impact worldwide and has caused intense controversy. So much so, while discussing theory, research has been shaped in the USA and European countries in the axis of discrimination and intolerance; It reveals that the phenomenon called Islamophobia against Muslims is on the rise. In this context, the relationship between the rising Islamophobia and the Clash of Civilizations thesis will be examined in our study.
