Suriye’de 2011 yılında başlayan iç savaş beraberinde tarihte eşine az rastlanır bir göç hareketine neden olmuş, Türkiye en uzun kara sınırına sahip olduğu bu ülkede yaşanan kaos ve göçten etkilenerek dünyada en çok sığınmacı barındıran ülke haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de Suriyeli sığınmacılara yönelik 2011-2018 yılları arasında basında yer alan haberler çerçeveleme ve öne çıkarma yaklaşımı bağlamında ele alınmıştır. Araştırmada tiraj ve siyasi duruşları dikkate alınarak belirlenen Sabah, Hürriyet ve Sözcü gazetelerinin Suriyeli sığınmacılara yönelik haberlerine içerik analizi uygulanarak değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Çok yönlü boyutları olan göç yönetiminde doğru ve etkin politikaların belirlenmesi büyük önem taşır. Politikaların belirlenmesinde ve kamuoyunun oluşumunda büyük etkileri olan medyanın önemli meseleleri ele alış biçiminin incelenmesi, tarihinin en büyük göç olayıyla karşı karşıya kalan ülkemiz için son derece önemli ve gereklidir. Bu çalışma da böyle bir gereklilikten hareketle yapılmış, Türkiye’ye göç eden Suriyeli sığınmacılar konusunda Türk medyasının tutumuna yönelik yapılan tespitler doğrultusunda öneriler sunularak literatüre ve izlenecek politikalara katkıda bulunmak amaçlanmıştır.
The civil war that started in Syria in 2011 has caused a migration movement that is rare in history, and Turkey has become the country that hosts the most refugees in the world, affected by the chaos and migration experienced in this country with the longest land border. In this study, the news in the press about Syrian refugees in Turkey between 2011-2018 are discussed in the context of framing and highlighting approach. In the research, the news of Sabah, Hürriyet and Sözcü newspapers, which were determined by considering their circulation and political stances, were evaluated by applying content analysis to the news about Syrian refugees. It is of great importance to determine the right and effective policies in migration management, which has multifaceted dimensions. It is extremely important and necessary for our country, which is faced with the biggest migration event in its history, to examine the way the media deals with important issues, which have great effects on the determination of policies and the formation of public opinion. In this study, based on such a necessity, it is aimed to contribute to the literature and the policies to be followed by presenting suggestions in line with the determinations made about the attitude of the Turkish media regarding the Syrian refugees immigrating to Turkey.
