Abstract:

Home energy consumption accounts for one-third of global primary energy demand and has a significant impact on the environment. In this way, it serves as a classic and interesting topic in literature with a series of studies that analyze the various aspects of household consumption, including energy savings, energy poverty and energy efficiency. However, home energy is not a type of meth that is purchased and then stored for use and is invisible to most of their consumers, so smart measurement technologies are introduced to encourage consumers to make energy visible and think about the amount consumed. These efforts have led to the appearance of a broad literature on consumer feedback to reduce household energy consumption. In this study, a field experiment was conducted in a district determined in Kocaeli in order to measure the impact of the feedback on the household consumer amount of electricity. The experiment covering 63 houses was carried out between 12 December and 6 March. During the test, consumption data was recorded weekly and tested with ANCOVA analysis. The results of the experiment showed that the feedback effect had a reducing effect on households' electricity consumption.
