Thabit b. Qays b. Shammas, a member of the Banu Khazraj tribe of the Ansar, had the honor of being the orator of the Messenger of Allah. He is a companion who was given the authority to answer the liar Prophet Musaylima by the Prophet. He participated in all the wars except the Battle of Badr and sided with the Prophet (PBUH), and after his death, he participated in the wars against false prophets and was martyred in the Battle of Yamama against Musaylimatü'l-Kezzab. There are narrations about him in hadith books that he was the orator of the Ansar and the Prophet, that he was afraid of hurting the Messenger of Allah because of his loud voice, that he was worried about being arrogant, that he was warned by the "Prophet" for condemning a companion who did not give him a seat because of his mother, that he asked forgiveness and mercy from the Messenger of Allah for Zubayr b. Bata, who saved him from death, and that he was martyred in the Battle of Yamama. However, the narrations in which his name is mentioned the most are those that he divorced his wives through mukhala‘a. In this article, it is aimed to reveal the life of Thabit b. Qays, whom the Messenger of Allah praised by saying "What a beautiful man" and prayed for his recovery when he got sick, in the context of the narrations about him. And we willespecially try to determine the narrations about the mukhala‘a by dividing them into three parts as the narrations in the books before Kutub al-Sittah, in the Kutub al-Sittah and in the books during Kutub al-Sittah period and after it.
