Abstract:

The aim of the study is to analyze the experience of women managers working in the lower and higher levels of management in the service sector by examining the obstacles that women employees in our country face throughout their career and business life. In the study, a face-to-face interview technique was conducted with 12 women managers working in Istanbul. As a result of the talks held, the majority of women’s managers have linked the reason why women in our country are less involved in the managing position to the patriarchal society structure. In man-dominated business life, the responsibility of women is more than the responsibility of men, and the other consequences that we face are that women put themselves back on the plan. In the talks, women's managers said they did not experience a big difference with men's managers in terms of wages and prizes but they were faced with negative views and obstacles in the matters of rise and promotion. For women managers to reduce the obstacles; women and men all employees and employers awareness, family-wide education programs, women workers with children; support programs and flexible working hours, managing candidates for women and training that enhances competence and confidence.
