Abstract The research addressed the issue of male and female reproductive trajectories (TR), taking into account the association between the initial segments of these and the number of total events, in members of unions of heterosexual older adults in two doctors’ offices in the city of Holguín. The elements of the initial segments that were taken into account are: the age at menarche, the first sexual relationship, type of union and time of relationship to the first sexual relationship, among others, with the total of pregnancies and children for the women and total children for men, among others. The correspondence between initial segments of TR between sex and with respect to the total components of TR within each sex was determined. A quantitative methodology was developed and techniques such as the Pearson coefficient, contingency tables and simple correspondence analysis were used, identifying which categories of the variables of the initial segments and the total TRs had strong associations between sexes. The results showed that there is a negative correlation between the ages at first sexual intercourse and first pregnancy in terms of total pregnancy and children for females, and negative correlation for age at first sexual intercourse and age at first child with respect to the number of children for men.
