Abstract:

The new type of virus called COVID-19, which emerged at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, China, continues to be the main topic of the world agenda in a time period of almost two years. A semi-structured qualitative data-based research was conducted in March 2020 in order to measure the knowledge of our faculty of theology graduate teachers about coronavirus and to raise awareness among students. In this article, the relationship between religion and various aspects of COVID-19 was examined from the point of view of our theologian teachers, based on the data of the aforementioned research and also by reviewing the relevant literature. An attempt was made to understand the course of religious thought in the context of the effects and consequences of COVID-19 on religious life. As a result, it has been seen that our teachers have a lack of knowledge about disasters such as pandemics and it is necessary to add new subjects within the framework of the curriculum. In addition, in order to prevent students from being affected by the negative consequences of such disasters, it has become necessary to deal with the pandemic theodicy on a philosophical, sociological and theological basis.
