Toplam kalite yönetimi (TKY), temel olarak bir kurumda ürün veya hizmetlerin sürekli geliştirilmesini, kurum içi ve dışı tüm müşterilerin istek, beklenti ve memnuniyetlerinin karşılanmasını, alınan kararlara ve sorunların çözümüne herkesin katılımını, tüm çalışanların sorumluluk üstlenmesini, sorunlara ve kaliteye odaklı etkin ekip çalışmalarını, çalışanlar arasında etkili ve samimi iletişimin kurulmasını içeren bir yaklaşımdır. Toplam kalite uygulamalarına son yıllarda eğitim kurumlarında da göze çarpmaktadır.
