Vakıdi described the Prophet's wars in detail in his book called Kitabü'l-Megazi. While describing these battles, he also included many commentary narrations on the subject. Since Vakidi combines the documents of the narrations in order to ensure the integrity of the subject while describing the events, it is not possible to determine the documents of these narrations exactly. While it is possible to determine the relevance of most of the commentary narrations conveyed by Vakıdi, the same cannot be said for the thirteen Makki verses about the Battle of Badr. The information given by Vakıdi about these verses, which are not clear in meaning and consist of polysemous words or phrases and the information in the works of Mukatil b Süleyman, Taberi, Zemahşeri and Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır from commentary sources, Ibn Hisham and Ibn Sa'd from the prophetic biography sources, and Bukhari and Muslim from the hadith sources were compared. Except for one of the information given by Vakıdi on the subject, the others are included in the sources that we use as a basis for comparison. This shows that the commentary information that Vakıdi included in his Meghazi was not his own personal interpretations, but that he obtained it from different sources. Although Vâkıdî and commentators, prophetic biography and hadith authors of different sects and ideas give different information on the subject, this information is not opposite to each other, but complements each other.
