Turfan Uyghur Civil (Non Religious) Documents (9.-14.Centuries) contains important information about the political, economic and cultural life of the Uyghurs. These documents, which reflect the history and culture of the Buddhist Uyghurs in the best way, provide important information about both social and cultural life of the Uyghurs as well as economic life, in sentence, agricultural life during above mentioned period. As it is understood from the Uyghur Civil Documents, Uyghurs, who adopt settled life have been engaged in agricultural activities in Turfan Area and have grown many different agricultural products, especially grains and cereals. It is understood that fruits, especially grapes, have an important place among the products that Uyghurs grow. Apart from cereals, grape, where Uyghurs cultivate most is used as a nutrient as well as herbal mixtures in order to treat various diseases. It is also known that wines of different quality made from grapes are used as a tax payment instrument. In this article, the subjects related to viticulture and grape culture in the Uyghur civilian documents will be examined and their place and importance in the old Uyghur society will be revealed.
